Barn Boy Games was founded in 2025 by Ryan Stadel and Kerry Oldfield, combining creative vision with hands-on execution to bring original games to life.
Ryan Stadel is the co-founder and creative director of Barn Boy Games, where he leads the vision and design behind each game. A former 7th grade math teacher and proud father of three boys, Ryan brings a passion for creating games that challenge players to think, not just rely on luck.
Inspired by years of playing games at home, Ryan set out to design experiences that introduce strategy, build confidence, and grow with players over time. What began as simple family experiments evolved into games that incorporate layered levels of play—allowing players of different ages and abilities to enjoy the same game together while developing their skills.
Today, Ryan continues to design beginner-friendly strategy games that are easy to learn, quick to play, and rewarding to revisit. His work reflects a deep love of teaching, math, and community, with the goal of creating games that bring people together, spark conversation, and create lasting memories.
Kerry Oldfield is the co-founder of Barn Boy Games and the operational force behind turning ideas into reality. Partnering with creative director and co-founder Ryan, Kerry helps transform early game concepts, often starting as simple sketches, into fully realized prototypes through hands-on design, fabrication, and iteration.
He leads the execution side of the business, overseeing prototype development while managing manufacturing, third-party logistics, and the company’s administrative foundation—from accounting and systems to day-to-day operations. Together, Kerry and Ryan combine creative vision and disciplined execution, working side by side through playtesting and development to create games people genuinely enjoy.
Outside of Barn Boy Games, Kerry is a wealth management advisor and enjoys life with his wife and their 15-year-old daughter—an enthusiastic playtester herself.
